Thank you for your thoughts and words of love on Cambria. I just opened his blog today like I do every Saturday morning to receive a sledgehammer blow to the chest like the rest of his readers. One of his children linked to your blog, which I regretfully had never heard of, as I’ve only been reading Cambria for about 4 years now.

What a loss. I’m not even sure how I stumbled across his blog but the Truth he spoke weekly, at least in my mind, reigns among the top tier of writers and observational Jeremiads of the first quarter of the 21st century. He was a curator of the good and pure things of our collective past and did it without shame or restraint behind a panoply of eloquence and eternal wisdom. “Who are we to trivialize our ancestors’ sufferings and wisdom?” was the tone I always got from his prose. He was possibly the only man with his academic pedigree on the internet to blend the works of classic Western literature with the body and blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ in such uncompromising terms. I love him for that and will always be grateful to carrying the torch for the likes of Walter Scott, William Shakespeare, Edmund Burke, Rudyard Kipling, and the rest of his favorite authors of Old European mind that kept their pietas alive and affixed to the hearth fire of Christ.

I encourage you and your readers to backlog/PDF as many of his articles as possible. They’re too valuable in the times current storm we’re going through. I remember frantically tracking down his backup blog after his old one was banned by WP a couple years ago. That was one of my main regrets: that he didn’t allow comments on the blog so we could tell him how much we love and appreciate him. As the Lord takes men like Lawrence Auster, Ol Remus (Woodpile Report), and now Cambria Will Not Yield, it’s up to the young like Shotgun to carry the torch until we reach a time when words are no longer enough. He leaves a major hole that cannot be filled but I’d like to also suggest writings of Laura Wood at The Thinking Housewife and the Reckonin’ blog. You can occasionally find good Old Europe apologetic writing at Chronicles Magazine, as well. God bless you Shotgun, and thank you Cambria, sir. “For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” (Hebrews 13:14)

Gone, from one week to the next. I only found out tonight, as Sunday evening is my usually CWNY reading time. Been reading him for about five years or so. I don’t even recall how I stumbled across CWNY, but I’ll miss it.

He was definitely one of a kind, and his writings had a huge influence on me.

    And now he’s with Christ!

Please convey my family’s condolences to his family, they are in our prayers. I cannot improve upon the two comments above, except to add that rather than stop having coffee with Cambria first thing every Saturday, we’ve decided to continue our ritual by going back to the old blog site and starting again from the beginning.Could you please contact me via email to discuss preserving CWNY’s work? We’d certainly like to contribute to those efforts.

After his wordpress blog was unjustly deleted, I asked him if I might go through and save all his articles for personal use and reading, which he agreed to. I’m sure he’d encourage anyone else to do the same.

Unfortunately – and I haven’t done the math to get a precise number – it looks like the “wayback machine” did not uniformly scan his material. With only two-hundred or so scans, my guess is a good 25 to 30 of CWNY’s posts from that time are lost to oblivion, unless he backed up all of his posts. I never asked him about the particulars of his site or how he chose to maintain it, so I’m not sure if he did or not. I hope he did.

…but even if not, I’m working to save all of it I can get for my own archives.

Wow, quite the shock. You others have said it better than I could have. I will so miss his words of wisdom. I also wish I could have commented on his posts from time to time. Till we meet in heaven, we will carry on the fight…

I too would like to encourage, and contribute towards, compiling CWNY’s articles and printing them in book form. He, and his writings will be sorely misssed.
May God bless CWNY, his family and the writer of this blog.

I loved to read CWNY. He gave me a framework to build my Christian life on. I HAVE to know who he was. Surely, now that he is gone, may he rest in peace, someone can tell us.
